I'm a bit of a latecomer to this AI party, after watching this video I went back and watched TJR's video with his jingle. My thought is this: AI could be an update on the Synclavier? Tell it what you want it to do and it does it.

Really interesting stuff. Thanks for doing the update. I have been using AI art generation to prototype ideas to before doing them in the traditional way. I've not really done much with AI music, but the little I have I had great fun with and will also use that for ideas for creating 'real' music to record.

Hi TJR I thought i had commented on that video but I may not have What I do want to ask is Were you aware of Frank Zappa’s work with synclavier and how he built a library of instrument samples and composed several major piece using this library I think it was 86 or 88 when zappa won a grammy for a piece with no humans on it Conlon Namcarrow composed pieces with player piano back in 50’s by manually punching holes on the rolls some of these piece are impossible for any piano player to perform AI Its just another tool

For the let it bleed or any album just play the affected area of the track backwards a couple of times and that should fix the problem of skip.

I consider the album Gaucho to be the great follow up to Aja (ASIA). Even Donald Fagen's solo album The Nightfly to be like a second follow up if you want a trilogy.

Still surprised they didn't ask Lugosi to do the Spanish version too. He performed in English on Broadway phonetically if he didn't know Spanish too (he was directed in French). He wasn't in a lot of the film and could have slept since they had time to prepare the rushes. In defense of the English version, it had to work as a silent film, too. Not every theater in the US was fit for sound yet so they altered the Lugosi version with title cards. Long scenes of talking wouldn't work. The Spanish version could get away with that. Van Helsing's first interview is better for that.

Really good video! It's always interesting to watch people react to music that is completely removed from what their ear is used to digesting. Over time popular music absorbs it into its collective musical conscience & what once sounded bizarre becomes status quo. I grew up in the 90's so while I was a fan of The Beatles I didn't experience their music through the lens of this dramatic musical shift. But I can remember, for example, remember listening with my best friend to Alice'N'Chains Dirt when it was first released. It was so bizarre that we had to listen to it several times before we could even process what it was that we were hearing - yet alone decide whether or not we liked it. I imagine on a much grander scale that must be how these kids felt.

You never watched that Fox TV 90s 2000s animated show “King Of The Hill”? Chuck was referenced A LOT on that show and even guest starred on a few episodes where he (on the show) opened up his own little “Wal-Mart” store 😅 The show takes place in Texas a very similar town where i’m originally from.

Penny Lane was more commercially friendly than Strawberry Fields it did better in the pop chart in both the US and UK

I think Karen had more in common as a drummer with the likes of Steve Gadd and Bernard Purdie, and I think if she was more known as a drummer, I think she probably would have ended up playing on Steely Dan sessions. I think if she was able to break away from her family (read the biography Little Girl Blue for more on that), her second album after her solo debut would have taken on a more Steely Dan tone lyrically (dark and sardonic) and also sonically as opposed to the New York disco sounds that Phil Ramone put on the first solo album. Just my opinion.

Most kids today don't even know that we "cleaned" our albums.

The first kid interviewed after Strawberry Fields really gets it. In the summer of 67 I was 5 and we moved from Charleston SC to Gales Ferry CT. That’s my overwhelming memory of that time. "They look like someone’s grandfather." "They’re as bad as The Monkees." ….Hilarious now in retrospect.

It was not doing the viewing audience any favors airing this video in black and white. This was the first time they'd appeared ANYWHERE without their matching suits, which even with the slightly more colorful design by 1966 were still of the gray/khaki/black shade variety. The whole purpose of the song and video was the vivid color, their individual attire, and psychedelic production. Maybe they saw it in color in the studio but the black and white broadcast took a lot of the air out of it. Only when people saw the video in color could they really comprehend what the Beatles were doing at that time.

In 1967 I loved SFF and continue to feel that way to this day. The video I found strange but it was The Beatles! Seemed too cool for me. Penny Lane I did not love as much but still….it was The Beatles. I was 16 at the time.

I was 16 and a huge Beatles fan (in 1967) . New Beatles' singles would be played on the hour, every hour, alternating A and B sides. My radio station just kept playing Penny Lane. I rang up the DJ (a big Beatles fan) and asked why he wasn't playing SFF. He said it was just too weird. But he played it. On first listen I thought dear John had at last gone insane. We just didn't have the ability to listen to it, it was so far away from anything that had come before. I am still (at 73) a huge Beatles fan and Strawberry Fields Forever is my favourite Beatles song

Richard Carpenter knew Karen's talents and embellished them. Sadly Karen didn't understand and didn't realize how they were still enjoyable and sophisticated today. Led Zeppelin will not have the longevity.

I always felt that the "Help" album ended the black & white period of Beatlemania and started the new trend of 'colorful thought-provoking lyrics and sounds' that was prevalent on "Rubber Soul". In fact, could've easily have been a double album in late 65' and early 66'. "Revolver" pushed the limits on 'color and sound'. Opening the door wide open for psychedelia like "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", "Magical Mystery Tour" and the animated film soundtrack "Yellow Submarine" 1967-1968.

I was 11 years old when this record came out and, because of my natural loyalty to The Beatles, I got a copy for myself. What did I originally think of it? To tell you the truth, I don't really remember! However, a few months earlier, I saw a photograph of McCartney with his new mustache... and I was extremely upset by it. I actually cried out of shock and disbelief! Luckily, I quickly got over that! Talk about the age of innocence!!
